Pancho Tolchinsky holds a degree in Mathematics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2001), a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2012), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Yahoo! Research Lab in Barcelona in 2013. After his postdoctoral work, Tolchinsky has focused his research around the question: “How do we create meaning through our bodies?”, where the poetic and the affective take on greater relevance than logic. This exploration has led him to delve into design and pedagogy, establishing connections between cognitive science, creativity, and education.
He has been a lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at IDEP Barcelona, Harbour.Space University, and Eina, teaching courses related to cognitive science applied to design. He has also led workshops on creativity and cognitive science for organizations such as Twitter, Mucho, and the Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art.
In the field of research, he has worked at the Yahoo! Research Lab in Barcelona and in the Knowledge Engineering and Machine Learning group at UPC, on projects focused on multimedia interfaces, multi-agent systems, and argumentation.
He has served as an educational advisor and later as director of Colegio Holss Llanogrande in Colombia (from early childhood to secondary education). He has collaborated with the studio Mucho on strategic design projects and with Alzheimer Catalunya Fundació in the field of strategic communication. He is co-founder of Acerca, a platform for talks and podcasts dedicated to reflecting on the interactions that shape cultural and biological life. In parallel, he has developed projects in artistic and commercial photography.
